Fundraisers can fall into the lure of believing that they’re asking for a favor or begging for a donation. However human beings, like all creatures, change time, cash or threat in return for one thing. When that change is inadequate to trigger motion, we don’t do it.
The nameless donor will get one thing. One thing priceless, memorable and worthwhile: peace of thoughts.
The general public donor, whether or not it’s the neighbor shopping for a raffle ticket for the scout fundraiser or the bigwig on the board of a museum, they get one thing as nicely. The standing and connection they purchase is a cut price, value greater than it prices. In reality, if it wasn’t value greater than it prices, they wouldn’t purchase it.
The fundraiser isn’t asking for a favor. They’re providing a chance.
