Rocket Lab has gained an $816 million contract — its largest thus far — with the U.S. Area Improvement Company as the corporate continues to diversify past its “rocket firm” label.
The corporate mentioned Friday that its subsidiary, Rocket Lab USA, was awarded a chief contract by the Area Improvement Company (SDA) to design and manufacture 18 satellites. The satellites will likely be outfitted with superior missile warning, monitoring, and protection sensors for the company’s Monitoring Layer Tranche 3 program.
This contract is separate from an present $515 million award to ship satellites for the SDA’s Transport Layer-Beta Tranche 2 program. That program goals to supply a satellite tv for pc communications community in low Earth orbit that sends encrypted, low-latency knowledge to the navy.
Collectively, Rocket Lab has SDA contracts valued at greater than $1.3 billion.
